My name is Ryan Schultz, from Flemington, NJ. I am in Hunterdon Central Regional High School’s graduating class of 2023. I also play baseball for the American Legion - Whitehouse Post 284 team in the Summer and Fall.
I started playing baseball when I was 6 and have loved it ever since. One of my biggest goals in life is to go to a great school and play baseball there. I believe that the academic quality of the school is as important as the team’s quality. I try very hard in school to get good grades and to learn things that match my future interests. Architecture or Engineering are my targets. I also learn many other important habits in school that will help me later in life. Like how to stay focused and that you will get not get better without hard work and practice. When I am out of school and not playing baseball, I have other hobbies. I enjoy being with my friends, surfing, working out, and just being outside in general.
When I’m not studying, I am out on the field, in the bullpen, or in the cages putting in hard work to better myself. I take my practices very seriously. I do high school winter practice, club winter practice, and even practice by myself off the tee. I attend fielding practice 3 times a week and pitching workouts 2 times a week. I also work on hitting, 5 of those days. Team group hitting, private lessons, and tee work in the back yard. I am constantly working to better my play and my mindset. My game and practice videos are on Youtube, search Ryan Schultz Baseball Highlight Videos and Ryan Schultz Baseball Highlight Videos II .
I have been lucky to have had great team coaches. I have also been lucky to have had weekly private lessons from a young age with former players like Cole Kimball, Bobby Bonds, Jr, Tony Gsell, Danny Dunn, Colin Ferhety and Steve Struble/Steve Farsiou.
I find that it’s very important to have a routine during the off-season so that your body is prepared and fully ready for the amount of baseball played in the summer and fall. I am working very hard to perform for my coaches this year.
