Calder Warden '23 Recruiting Profile

Hi coaches. My name is Calder Warden. I’ll be graduating from Ridgewood High School in 2023 and hope to find a college where I can contribute to the baseball program, as well as pursue studies in law or political science. I pride myself in working hard, being prepared and bringing a positive attitude to everything I pursue. 

For many in my grade, Freshman year baseball did not happen due to the pandemic, but fortunately for me, Sophomore year was fantastic.  I was the starting catcher for Ridgewood High School JV, and we had a great year going 12-2, winning our conference tournament.  One of my favorite memories from the tournament was when I back-picked a runner at first base during the championship game ending their rally. 

Although my primary position is catcher, our varsity coach wants me to work on playing outfield as well.  He says my arm strength and speed translate well.  As such, I have been taking reps in the outfield on my summer and fall teams.  In the off-season I play ice hockey, which has been great for helping develop my core strength.

I live in New Jersey now, but was born in Boston and have been a life-long Red Sox fan.  I also had the good fortune to live in Australia for 4 years (ages 8-11) where I experienced a very interesting culture. You might not know it from the outside, but Australians take their baseball quite seriously.
