My name is Colin Roche and I am a senior at Ridgewood High School that has played soccer for as long as I can remember. [RHS, btw, ended its season 17-2-2, repeated as Big North Freedom champion, and lost in OT in the Bergen County and the North 1 Group 4 sectional tournament finals. I personally was named all-conference first team, all-Bergen county second team, and honorable mention all-state.]
A diligent student on the pitch and in the classroom, I will graduate with high honors in 2020 and will be playing soccer for Coach Jennings and Guinto at Vassar College, which plays in the Liberty League. I can already visualize myself controlling the central midfield for this top DIII program and can't wait for the season to begin. I am told by those I respect that my level of commitment and lead-by-example ethos -- not to mention my technical skills, tactical awareness, and overall level of fitness [see my sub-ten-minute two mile time from freshman year, before I left track and field to focus exclusively on soccer) -- make this is a realistic goal but just being a part of this incredible team will ease my transition to college this fall.
What else should you know about me soccerswise? Well, I am a creative and consummate playmaker with stellar vision and awareness that can finish with either foot, slot runners through, create havoc with high pressure, and consistently make those around me more effective. I am also a late bloomer physically, with growth plates that suggest that my 6' frame has good few inches yet to grow.
As for my experience, I've played in the the UK, the Surf Cup, and IMG with several Nextgen select teams; went to the Gothia Cup with my town team as a U12 playing up as a U13; was called up to varsity at RHS as a freshman to solidify the midfield; and continue to play ACM for TSF Academy 2001 USYS NL -- a Dallas Cup semi-finalist in 2019 and one of the top U19 club teams in the nation.
Thanks for looking at my profile!
