Dear Coach,

I’m a well-rounded high school senior who is working hard to accomplish my goal of becoming a pitcher at the collegiate level, while continuing to excel in the classroom.

I am confident that my unique combination of character, athletics, and academics sets me apart from other recruits and makes me a strong candidate for your team.

First and foremost, I am committed to excellence both on and off the field.  As an athlete, I have a strong work ethic and a dedication to continuous improvement.  I believe that success in sports requires not only physical talent, but also mental toughness, discipline and a willingness to learn from both wins and losses.  I am always pushing myself to be the best that I can be, and I am not afraid of hard work or challenges.

In addition to my athletic abilities, I also pride myself on my character.  I am a team player who values sportsmanship, respect, and integrity.  I believe that being a good teammate means supporting and encouraging others, taking responsibility for my actions, and always representing myself and my team with class and dignity.  I am someone who leads by example, and I am always striving to be a positive influence.

Finally, I am also dedicated to my academic pursuits.  I understand that being a student-athlete requires balancing rigorous academic coursework with a demanding athletic schedule, and I am up for the challenge.  I take my studies seriously and prioritize my academic responsibilities, knowing that my success in the classroom is just as important as my success on the field.
