I am Shawn Austin. I have always dreamed of playing baseball at a collegiate level for as long as I can remember. I started playing baseball when I was only three and a half years old. I grew up around baseball as my parents were heavily involved as little league President and secretary for 8+ years in our local community. When I wasn't in a game myself I was umpiring games for younger divisions in our local league. I feel I'm a very coachable athlete and still have a lot to learn about baseball, as I'm still young. I feel my dedication to school and sports sets me aside from other athletes I know. I don't miss a practice or a day of school unless its absolutely necessary. I'd say my character and integrity are important to me. I take pride in everything I do, I care for my family deeply and I am very close with all of my siblings. I help my parents with my 2 adoptive brothers with errands, homework and chores around the house. My athletic abilities started from a young age as I played soccer, basketball, football, and rode motocross. I excelled in every one of those sports but my passion has always been baseball. I feel I'm a well rounded utility player, but if I had my choice I'd say I'm best at 3rd base or 1st base and decent on the mound with a good fastball. Lastly, my academics have always been a priority to me and my family. In my house skipping or missing school is not an option. Bringing home a C is not an acceptable grade for my parents or myself. I've always been an A/B student. I recently scored in the top 3 in my Junior class on my SAT. I look forward to expanding my abilities with a school and coaching staff that can bring out the best in me.
