My name is Kendall Kendrick. I will be entering my Junior year at Newfield High school in Selden, New York in September 2019. I have played baseball for Newfield High School since I was an 8th grader. This year I played on Newfield High School Varsity Baseball team. I am 5'9 and 150 pounds and growing bigger and stronger everyday by diligently working out. My primary position is shortstop, but recently I have played more second base. I am also a right handed pitcher, but can pretty much play any position on the field. In other words, plain and simple, I am a ball player and I love the game of baseball. I have been told that I have exceptional speed. I have a high on base percentage and have used this speed in stealing bases and when I play the outfield. I know that as I grow taller and get stronger, I will run even faster and this will help set me apart from other players.
My father, Darryl Kendrick, has been instrumental in the development of the passion that I have for the game. He was an all-county baseball player at Freeport high school in the 1980’s and played Division I baseball at New York Institute of Technology on Long Island before later obtaining his Bachelor’s Degree from New York University-Stern School of Business. He recently told me, “I am very proud of you. You are way ahead of where I was at your age.” Because of my parents support, I have had the opportunity to learn the game from many great coaches. I have played travel baseball since I was 8 years old and have been lucky to have played all over the country in various tournaments. I know without them I wouldn't be the player that I am today.
Although baseball is my favorite sport, I also play football (quarterback and corner) and basketball (guard). Despite my busy schedule, I maintain a 3.8 GPA. I want to attend college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the field. My current academic interests lie in the field of medicine and science. I will add significant value to a competitive college team through my unwavering determination to improve my skills and be a team player. My future goals include playing baseball at the highest level possible and giving back to my community through public service.
