Personal Statement

My name is Joseph Hackal. I go to Newfield High School in Selden, New York and I'm in the class of 2022. I have a 93 GPA and have been on the High Honor Roll every semester. I'm a three sport athlete with a passion for the game that I'm playing , which drives me to be the best that I can be. My summer travel baseball team is LI Body Armour Titans Quattrini. When I'm not playing sports, I volunteer my extra time by helping the local youth little league baseball program, along with working at my parents' Bagel store. My collegiate goals are to get a Business degree and play baseball at that level. I feel I'm a well rounded student-athlete that would be an asset to a program because of my willingness to do anything or play any position to help the team be successful. Thank you, Joseph Hackal

Joseph continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. He did show in the OF for the first time at the event. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date at 7.20. At SS, defensive abilities are outstanding as he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. In the OF, defensive abilities are outstanding as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking balls down. He works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and covers a lot of ground. Throws are accurate will on line carry (84 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing (81 mph exit velocity), stays inside the ball and utilizes all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

Official Scouting Report SS POSITION PROJECTION 08/18/2019 - College PREP - Uniondale (Long Island), NY Joseph is a SS prospect who will graduate in 2022. In the field, Joseph shows quick footwork and attacks the ball aggressively. He gets into an athletic position and fields the ball out in front of his body. He makes a clean exchange and gets rid of the ball quickly, keeping his throws consistently on-line to his target. At the plate, this LHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He is fluid getting back into his load and hits against a strong front side, leading to solid contact to all fields. Overall, Joseph is a solid prospect who should find success going into his sophomore season.
