When I won my sectional championship diving competition and qualified for the state meet after being away from the diving boards for nearly two months due to injury, I fully understood how impactful my determination for this sport is. If I couldn't be physically practicing, then that gave me every oppurtunity to practice improving my mindset. I learned that I needed more than anything to become my own motivator. I learned that if I wanted to compete in the end of season championsip meet, I had to prepare myself for any future obstacle that would stand in my way. I would overcome fears of not being"good enough". I chose to focus on what I am improving on instead of what I am lacking. I know I have become a much wiser athlete from this injury and what I learned will always stay with me as I head into my college career.
I look forward to the upcoming challenge of diving at a collegiate level. I know that my determination will help coaches to teach me new skills and that my animated personality will no doubt allow for fun with teammates on or off the pool deck. As I head into my sixth varsity swimming and diving season I know what it means to be apart of team and how important it is to have the support of a coach and fellow teammates.
