I believe the sport of baseball has shaped me in all aspects of life, including academics and how I interact with the people around me. First, it has helped me develop a sense of competition that I carry with me in my academics. I am surrounded by many people of high intelligence and I am always striving to be the cream of the crop. Baseball has helped me by learning that patience and managing failure are important parts of any competition and that sometimes you have to take a loss to rise to the top.
Baseball has also helped me interact with the people around me. The sport has taught me virtues like the importance of being humble, being congenial around others, and having a sense of mutual respect for everyone around me. These are just a few of the ways baseball has shaped me the way I am today.
