I’ve always strived to excel in athletics, but my parents impressed upon me that academics come first. So, in order for me to play what I love most, I managed to stay on the honor roll for the last three years, by maintaining a 3.5 GPA. I started playing baseball at the age of 5 and I have been hooked ever since. I have played on competitive teams since I was 10. I was even on a team that went to the Little League World Series when I was 12. I am constantly pushing myself to achieve a level of excellence in my abilities by taking private batting lessons and participating in showcases. In addition to playing on my high school team, I make it a point to play Fall Ball every fall season and work on strength and condition during every off-season. Additionally, I compete in the high jump every spring. I earned a varsity letter in baseball and track my freshman, sophomore, and junior years. 3 years ago, as a freshman, I achieved sixth in the state for high jump, and my sophomore year, although it was a shortened season, I was first in the state. Last year, even though I injured my hamstring, I placed 9th in the state of Oklahoma in my division. In baseball, I started on varsity in left field every year for the last three years. Since my freshman year, I have batted over .400 improving each year to my current batting average of .423. In my freshman year, I assisted my team in winning district and regionals for the first time in over 10 years. Last year, we were blessed to be the first Holland Hall team ever to win the Oklahoma 3A State Championship with a record of 36-6 and we were ranked 10th in the state. I took the responsibility of leadoff hitter very seriously as I led the team with the most hits (54) and scored the most runs (66). I also hold the school record for the most stolen bases in a year with a total of 67 stolen bases out of 67 attempts. Looking ahead, I have been named Team Captain of our 2021-2022 baseball team. I was also blessed to be named All-State honorable mention. This year, my goals are to lead my team in back-to-back championships and put myself in the best position possible to play Division 1 baseball. In addition to lettering in baseball and track, I was also a part of the Strings Orchestra and the Strings Quartet all three years where we won all superiors in every competition which is equivalent to first place. Having played violin for 13 years has served me well. In my freshman year, I was first chair for 2nd violinists. During my sophomore and junior years, I was first chair in the quartet and second chair in the orchestra. I have been incredibly blessed to be raised in a house where the importance of leadership and giving back was stressed at a very early age. Therefore, I have been active in a leadership group called Jack and Jill where I held the offices of Financial Secretary and Secretary for the past two years. Over the past three years, in the Jack and Jill organization, I have served underrepresented communities by donating books and reading to kids in after-school programs, packing food boxes for families in need, donating jackets to elementary school kids, and raising money to benefit kids with leukemia. Because of my love for baseball, I am establishing a charity that collects various athletic equipment, particularly baseball, to donate to local youth programs. I want to expose children in underrepresented communities to the joy of baseball. I believe there is nothing more important than giving back to others. My parents always taught me, to whom much is given, much is to be expected.
