Falling in love with the game of baseball may have come later in my life than some kids, but my passion and love for the game has always driven me to succeed. Baseball has always been referred to as the game of numbers. I believe my love for mathematics has helped propel my way into the game. Hockey was the first sport I was invested in competitively, starting at 4 years old until age 15, when I decided to focus primarily on baseball and high-school sports. Like many young kids, I began playing soccer in the summer to stay active. It wasn’t until I was 6 and my family took a drive to Toronto where I saw my first Blue Jays game and was introduced to the game of baseball. Ricky Romero started for the Jays that day and I can still remember him having a great outing. Being left-handed myself, I saw someone firsthand that I could admire in the sports world. Throughout that summer my interest and knowledge grew. By next May I traded my soccer cleats in for baseball spikes.
I went straight into Rookie ball and by the following season was playing competitive. By the time I was 10, baseball surpassed hockey as my primary sport and I fell in love with the game! Since then I have continued to fuel my passion by traveling to 1 MLB diamond each year to take in the beautiful ballpark atmosphere while watching the game I love. Through all the ups and downs, wins and losses, cold spring nights and hot summer days, I couldn’t have imagined that playing catch on the beach with my parents and a family trip to go cheer on Canada’s team would be where my baseball journey all started. Now I look ahead to the future, putting my passion and dedication into the next phase of my life as I hope to be part of a strong baseball program while pursuing my academic aspirations as well.
