As I enter into my freshman year at Bentworth High School, my main goal for this year is to start playing varsity baseball for my school. I am 5 feet 7 inches, 130 pounds and a straight A student. I am quiet but I am reliable and a persistent person dedicated to get what I want.
I love baseball.
Believe it or not, there are some things that I do besides baseball. I enjoy working out. I enjoy playing video games with my friends. I like watching ESPN on my phone. I enjoy watching all sports on TV. And, I enjoy knowing that I know more information about stats than my dad.
I also play drums. I started in middle school in concert band playing various types of drums. Also, in middles school, I was part of the Percussion Ensemble. When I entered 9th grade, I joined the marching band as well. I play the snare drum for that outside band. I am still playing drums for high school concert performances.
When I was in elementary, I played rec basketball. Then in middle school, I was able to play with a more structured team. I couldn’t continue because of the interference with baseball.
I have been playing baseball ever since I was 5 years old. It was when I was about 10 years old when I really wanted to start playing the game competitively. When I was 11 years old, I finally figured out what position I truly have a passion and enjoyment for is, shortstop. All the time, I am constantly working harder to become better at this position. It’s not just shortstop, I am able to play wherever my coach desires me to play. I take that same enjoyment and passion to those positions as well. The positions that I have also spent time playing include all outfield and remaining infield positions as well as spending time as a pitcher.
I started playing with traveling baseball teams when I was 10 years old. When I was 12 years old, the team I was on was able to take us to a weeklong tournament in Cooperstown, NY. There were 104 team playing. Each team had their barracks to stay in. At the end of the week, my team came in 16th. It was a life changing experience.
This coming 2019 high school baseball season there are limited experienced players returning from last season. Therefore, there will be openings for playing time on varsity. If I continue to work like I have been this should allow me to achieve my goal and play on the varsity baseball team.
School is important also. I am currently taking core classes that I need to pass to graduate high school. I’ve maintained a 4.0 since I started this year. I take Geometry, English, Spanish, Global Studies, Computer Classes, to name a few.
Of course, my ultimate goal to play college baseball to pursue a degree in athletics/physical training. Another interest for my college is size; not gigantic college, but a college with the just right amount of people. The overall main goal of my athletic and academic career is to go to a college that will help me start my long journey of life.
