2020 HighlightsMy collegiate goal is to play baseball at a top level and prepare myself for life after college. Athletically, I want to excel as a baseball player and earn a starting spot, where I can help my team excel. Academically, my goal is to earn a degree in business/finance while playing baseball, and after I graduate use the education and knowledge to better help society. All of these goals are attainable because of my unmatched work ethic. I will work for as long and as hard as it will take to reach my goal. When faced with new situations, I adapt and overcome the challenges presented with confidence. An example is during the summer going into my 9th grade year I completed a 2 week National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) course in the Wyoming mountain range. With 50 miles of hiking and camping it was a challenge, but when it got hard I pushed myself and encouraged others to do the same.
This same mindset applies to baseball as well. If I want something I will do anything to get it. The “never give up” mindset is seen in everything I do. I am also very good at adapting to new situations. In my 16 years of life, I have moved 8 times and lived in 7 different states ranging from Texas to Colorado. With all the new schools, friends, and baseball tryouts I have used my mentality and skills to adapt to new situations which has helped me throughout my life so far. Each new school I have been to, I lead by example. Whether it be on or off the field, I set a good example for others to follow. Although I was new, I trusted that my leadership skills could help the team win more games and get better. When I knew we didn't get enough fielding or hitting at practice that day I would stay longer and encourage others to stay after to get extra reps or come early the next day to make sure that we were prepared for the game.
From the 8 moves, to the new challenges, my work ethic has helped me overcome anything thrown my way. With my never give up mentality along with my ability to adapt quickly, I believe I stand out among other recruits. I follow five basic principles: 1) Golden Rule: Treat others as I would want to be treated, 2) Give 100% in everything I do, 3) Act with integrity at all times, 4) Control myself mentally, physically and emotionally at all times, and 5) Excellence without arrogance. These principles, along with my work ethic, and life experiences, I believe make me not just a good recruit and college applicant, but a good person. I am excited for the opportunity to play baseball in college while earning my business/finance degree and preparing for the real world.
