My name is Clare Marsh and I have been running track since I was in seventh grade. Over the last few years, running has truly become a passion of mine. I love the opportunity it presents to challenge and push myself both mentally and physically. I am always drawn to a challenge, and this plays into the way I approach both my academics and athletics. No matter what I am doing, I pride myself in always giving my best effort. At my school, I am involved in numerous leadership activities, such as being a student ambassador, the treasurer for our student council, and a captain on our soccer team. I am also a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society, and my 4.0 cumulative GPA attests to my hard work in the classroom. My school is small, but the strong and supportive community at Saint Joseph’s has encouraged me to push through the challenges that I have faced. Because we are so small, my school has limited facilities, and we do not have a track to practice or compete on. This situation has forced us to be good at making the most of what we do have, and working hard at every practice. This also means that when I want to practice the hurdles on an actual track, my coach and I must take extra time—outside of practice—to utilize a local facility. I am incredibly lucky have a dedicated and knowledgeable coach, and a team that truly believes in and supports each other, and this is something that I am looking for as I prepare to compete at the collegiate level. For most of my life I have been a multi-sport athlete, often playing at least three sports per year, but my love for running has lead me to decide to focus my time on track so that I can really see what I am capable of. I look forward to seeing what the future holds!
