Hello, my name is Connor Hyde. I am seventeen years old and am a Junior at Canon McMillan High School, in Canonsburg, PA. I am currently 6’2” and 190 pounds. I bat and throw right handed. My primary positions are catcher and shortstop, although I am capable of playing all nine positions on the field well. I have been playing baseball since the age of four. I have had the opportunity to compete for the Ohio Valley NTIS and Baseball Youth All American games. Last year, I played on the Canon McMillan Varsity team before the season was cut short. As a freshman, I was the starting catcher on the Canon McMillan JV team where I also played shortstop and pitched.
Playing baseball for the past twelve years has taught me many things, not only about baseball, but life in general. I learned how to celebrate victories, and accept defeats in a dignified manner. In addition, I discovered that hard work, perseverance, teamwork, commitment, and effective time management, are critical elements for both individual and team success.
My goal has always been to play baseball in college at the highest level. This is something that I have always wanted and is what drives me as a player. As a student athlete, in addition to baseball, I also believe that doing well in school is equally important. I am presently taking academic courses and my ultimate goal is to attend college, major in Education, and become an elementary school teacher. In addition to being a teacher, I would also like to coach baseball and share my love and knowledge of the game with other people.
When I am not playing baseball, I like to play basketball, listen to music and watch movies. I am also working with a personal trainer to improve my speed, strength and agility.
In conclusion, I am a person who always strives to put team goals ahead of personal success and I try to be a good role model both on and off the field. I will always play to positively represent the name on the front of the jersey, while honoring the name on the back of the jersey.
Sincerely,
Connor Hyde
