I began skating at the age of three and became interested in hockey a few years later. Seeing my older brother play got me involved in the sport, and it made me fall in love with it. I enjoy the competitive and team aspect of hockey. Hockey has taught me how to be relentless and push myself towards my goals on and off the ice. It has also taught me commitment because I always have to be committed to my team in order to not let them down. The hockey team I have become apart of feels like my second family, and I hope to have this feeling in college. Academically, I have achieved many goals in high school by always keeping my grades at the high expectation I have for myself. In college I plan to continue this work ethic by putting my full effort into my education. Everyone has obstacles, in their life and on their team. I have overcome many injuries where I have had to persevere through surgeries and physical therapy. My most recent surgery I have overcome was a tear to my labrum in my shoulder. It took me six months to get back to playing hockey, but I worked everyday to get better. There were many times where I wanted to give up because of the pain and the recovery time. However, I continued to push forward. I now feel as if I am stronger than I have ever been physically and mentally as a hockey player. I want to continue my hockey career through college, and I will put my full effort into helping my team in any way I can.
