My name is Colton Cromer, I am 6'0" and weigh 155 pounds. I would not want to do anything else with my athletic career than playing on the baseball diamond. I play on two baseball teams, one being a travel/club team in Pennsylvania called the Berks County Bulls for the past 4 years, as well as the Fleetwood Area High School baseball team for the past 2 years. I mainly play left field for my travel team, and I am a skilled pitcher in the rotation. We have many infielders on our travel team this fall season, which has given me the opportunity to spend more time playing left field due to my versality of several positions. Another key position I play for on my travel team and for the past two years for my high school team is third base. I am transitioning to the outfield for the high school team this spring.
Since I was thirteen, I have been working with the same instructor developing my mechanics more, as well as polishing my hitting and pitching techniques. I am a dominant right handed hitter. As well as with my arm becoming more dominant, my coaches from both the travel team and the high school team transitioned me to to the outfield. Utilizing my long legs and strong arm, I can get to the ball on a good angle and speed better than other outfielders. After playing the amount of positions I have played it makes me a better utility player and a coach can put me anywhere on the diamond and I can adapt myself to that position quickly and efficiently to succeed. By playing the outfield, it helps me be more aware on how the outfielders arms are developed and makes me better and more aware on the base paths.
Beyond the field, I am a mentor for younger boys that have a love for the game. I volunteer my time helping youth league baseball and guiding the boys through the mechanics and foundation of baseball. I am a leader on my travel team and always show my compassion for the sport through my attitude as I run on the field and as support from the dugout. I am responsible and dedicated as I follow through on all my commitments I make in my personal and athletic endeavors.
I am beyond motivated to play in college for the baseball team. I have had many coaches and people tell me that I have the talent to compete at any division and strive in the division. My main goal when I think to myself, is that I put 100% of my effort on doing my best and challenging myself to be the best on the diamond after every game.
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read my personal statement and good luck in the upcoming season.
