I am very proud to say that I am a leader on and off the field. Not only do I have strong catching skills, but I also know how to work well with pitchers, coaches, teammates, umpires, and even my opponents. Several high level coaches have told me that I have very strong blocking and receiving skills compared to other catchers my age. Also, I have learned to respect the game of baseball.
There are several reasons why I would be a good candidate for a strong academic institution and baseball program. First of all, I am a very good student. I have always been an honor roll recipient and have all honors and advanced level courses. Next year, I will have all honors & AP courses and really enjoy school. This past winter, I was selected to be a student in a study abroad program which was an incredible experience for me. Second, I am very coachable and like to learn. I have played high level, travel ball since I was ten years old, and every coach seems to agree that I am easy to coach and that I listen to their advice. I have learned to overcome challenges and keep trying even if it's a tough time for myself or my team. Plus, I am always willing to learn new catching and hitting techniques . I really feel that I am a team player and am very loyal to my teammates, school, and coaches. For the past thirteen seasons, I have played for All Star Baseball Academy and have made friends and relationships that should last my entire life. This is a very important part of my "baseball experience", whether it is at my school or with the travel ball team. Hopefully I can do the same at college.
Compared to other players, I have some unique traits and experiences. In 2016, I was the primary catcher for the Philly-Cuba Baseball & Goodwill Tour Team. I plan to go back to Cuba this summer for another baseball-goodwill tour. Last winter, I had a chance to play baseball and help the community in the Dominican Republic. This was very rewarding. Most recently, in July of 2019 I was selected to play in the Top 100 Showcase in the Philadelphia area and to Perfect Game's WWBA All Tournament Team 2021. In November 2017, 2018, 2019 and again in 2020 , I was selected as the PA representative and player at the Power Showcase in Arlington, Texas and this year at the Arizona DiamondBack Stadium. In June of 2017, 2018, and again this year, I was selected to be a catcher for the USA Baseball National East-Team Freedom Championship Games at Roger Dean Stadium in Florida. In 2015 & 2016, my ASBA travel team and I had the experience of playing in (and winning) the College World Series / Slumpbuster National Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska. That was very exciting.
One more fact that makes me different from others is that when I was ten years old I started my own technology company, Tech Know Pro, Inc. Being the CEO of this company has given me a lot of interesting and life changing experiences, from meeting new people, learning how to deal with a variety of clients, how to manage my time well, and how to grow my business successfully. My company's revenues have grown by @ 20% per year and I've been paying taxes for my business since I was ten years old. Some of the profits and savings I have earned will be used to pay for my college. I recently designed and developed websites for several teams and my own player profile website - www.ryanorlov.com.
I would be happy to talk more about my goals, aspirations, and why I would be a good candidate for your team. Thank you.
