Growing up in a house that had a big yard, I took advantage of all of the space and opportunities I had to better myself at baseball. Having a Dad who would play catch with me every day truly changed who I am today. The basic fundamentals I practiced in the yard; running up and down the street to build my leg strength, and playing wiffle ball until the sun set under the trees, paid off. I am 100 percent confident that my baseball skills are where they are today because of the little things I constantly practiced. I was fully interested in baseball the first time I played wiffle ball in my front yard when I was 2 years old. Since my dad always played with me, it became something I always wanted to do. I then started playing T-Ball at 4 years old and progressed up the ladder in all the different leagues to where I am today.
After my team won the State Little League Championship, I knew that this sport was meant for me. It felt so natural whenever I played; it was like the game came to me. Baseball has also taught me how to handle everyday problems. Getting out of a tough inning is the same feeling as solving a real life problem that you have been struggling with. Growing up I played many different sports including soccer, football, basketball, lacrosse, track, and cross country, which taught me the most important aspect of the game...sportsmanship. Having good sportsmanship is the key to being a leader of a team on and off the field.
My goals for high school include winning the State Championship with my teammates, achieving a 3.5 GPA by the end of the year, and getting accepted into one of my dream colleges with an offer to play baseball. My college goals consist of studying Sports Management, playing college baseball, meeting new people, maintaining a successful GPA, and enjoying every minute of it!
The biggest obstacle I had to overcome was having surgery in my sophomore year of high school on my shoulder. I tore my Labrum whilst sliding into second base and I was out of sports for about 8 months. Since I was cleared in late November, I spent the rest of winter grinding in the gym and baseball training facilities. Due to countless hours of working hard, I came back stronger than ever. Having the ability to throw a baseball again is truly a great accomplishment of my life. The hard work, dedication and determination is the main reason why I am able to set foot on the field again.
A unique skill I possess is welding. I am in my fourth year of welding and I will be certified once I graduate. I also really enjoy cooking, and I can make some very tasty meals for my family.
