My goal is to play on a college baseball team where I will contribute to the team’s success while playing the game I love with great coaching and teammates. I hope this is at a college that will challenge me academically and prepare me for my future.
My competitive nature is what drives my game and my consistent commitment to improve everyday. I share that motivation with my teammates and encourage their success on and off the field. I am a hard worker and as my coaches will attest, I respond positively to feedback and have a solid character.
Academically I am a dedicated student. My GPA is 3.7 and I am in all honors/college credit courses.
Currently I am 5’11” and 172lbs. Third base has been a great position for me as I have very quick reaction time and I am very agile. I respond well to pressure and consistently deliver when hitting in high pressure situations.
My committment to baseball and my academics is what I believe will make me a success on a college team, in the classroom and in life. Thanks for your consideration.

This is a letter on behalf of Matt McDuff, presently a junior in my baseball program at East Providence High School. I have had the pleasure of working with Matt since he was in second grade through baseball camps that I have run over the years. His work ethic it tremendous as he always puts extra effort into the tasks at hand. He is not afraid to go the extra mile and do what needs to get done to be successful and separate himself from the average student athlete with extra help at school, one on one sports specific lessons, fitness lessons, and group work practices. He is a team player that can play multiple positions and he fills in his role very well. He has a high baseball IQ for sure and his skill set at the present time that would be the potential projection for a division two collegiate program. He is also a pleasure to have in the classroom, I have spoken to my co-workers about his overall character and I hear nothing but great reviews. I personally have seen Matt develop into a fine young man since the age of seven. He comes from a very good family that is well respected in the community. Both his parents are extremely supportive and they understand balance and always have approached me in an appropriate manner. I wish more parents modeled after the McDuff’s in general, as I have a ton of respect for them. Any questions feel free to contact me. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Robert J. Rodericks

Letter of Recommendation – Matt McDuff 2/16/21
Matt was an early season addition to the 17U American Legion Team that I managed this past summer (2020). He had an immediate impact upon our team and their eventual State Title.
Matt displayed both maturity and poise as he was willing to play wherever the coaches saw fit for that game. A very durable fielder, Matt saw the majority of his time playing either 2B or 3B for our team. Due to the fact that he was an excellent contact hitter, Matt also saw time at DH to keep his bat in the lineup.
He is a consummate teammate, willing to play at various positions, sacrificing his AB with key bunts during our championship run. In 20 PA, Matt reached base 15 times at a clip of .750 for his OBP with 8 hits in 12 AB (.667), with 5 BB and 2 HBP. Matt consistently works the pitcher in the count, as along with his BB, 6 of his 8 hits were with 2 strikes!
Matt’s parents are very supportive to his ongoing pursuit to be a top notch ballplayer as he spends extensive time in clinics, showcases and at our ‘baseball warehouse’ applying his craft. As also his Assistant Coach at EPHS, I would say that Matt is projected to earn a starting infield position this upcoming season.
If you any further questions in regard to Matt, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you,
Frank DeVall, Jr.
Manager, Riverside Post 10 American Legion 17U
Assistant Coach, East Providence HS Baseball
