Personal Statement

While I have wanted to play college baseball for as long as I can remember and  I am working toward making that happen,  I see the significance of being successful both on the field and in the classroom.  One of my major accomplishments that highlights this belief is winning the Braves Award for both my Junior Varsity football and baseball teams.  My coaches honored me with these awards, because they saw me as a player that they  wanted representing the school based upon my work ethic, leadership, and on field accomplishments.  I try to embody these characteristics in everything I do. While some of my peers are choosing an easier path through high school, I am enrolled in advanced placement courses such as Calculus, Biology, U.S. History, Literature, and Language.  I know that I have to have a life after baseball.  College is the means of achieving that life I want and I see college athletics as a part of that overall educational experience which will make me a well rounded citizen.

On the field, I view myself as a throwback player who will do what it takes to help my team win.  Even though I led my Junior Varsity and Junior Legion teams in hits, I also lead the teams in getting hit by pitches.  While it is not something I like, it gets me on base and helps my team score runs.  During both seasons, I led the team in runs scored.  I know I have to get on base to score runs and I will get on however I can.  In conclusion, I hope that I can find a place that I can help my team win in whatever manner I can.

  • Athletic square stance from the right side. Loads into the back leg, simple heel pick up and put down to stride, and hands make small load into a bat wrap. Hands are short to the ball, swing path is level, and showed some pull side tendency. Exit velocity was 75 mph. In the outfield Rockey works into and through the throw well. Clean exchange, full arm circle, and throws from a three-quarter arm slot. Positional velocity was 76 mph. Displayed some speed while running a 6.90 60.

  • Defensively: has a good first step and read on the ball in the OF. Arm and speed are good enough to play anywhere in the outfield. However if you want to play at the next level, I suggest getting stronger and long toss! Offensively: good swing and okay bat speed. With an increase in strength both will increase. Stays balanced throughout(very important). We would like to see you stay through the zone a little bit longer. Again added strength and tee work will help with that.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
