Hi, my name is Cole Kelly, I am a senior at Austin High School and I was born and raised in Sugar Land, Texas. I have grown up in a close knit, very active family. My parents are both former collegiate athletes from Iowa and I have been raised in a home with strong moral values and a strong work ethic. Hard work has always been a central theme in our home and I have been fortunate to live by a set of principles that I use as a guide for my personal behavior.
There has never been a time in my life, that I can remember anyway, where baseball hasn’t been a focus of mine. I have always been a high energy kid, and I spent hours playing baseball in my yard until I was finally old enough to join my first team as a kindergartner. I haven’t stopped playing since. I joined my first select team in 2007 and to this day, I continue to play with the Fort Bend Texans. I’m not the same kid who started there seven years ago.
I have learned a lot about myself through playing baseball. The strong work ethic I was raised with as a younger child has served me well throughout life and on the baseball field. I have learned to be resilient when dealing with adversity, and know the importance of keeping the focus on what needs to be done. I take pride in excelling in pressure situations and taking responsibility for the outcome of my goals and mission as a ball player.
Being a student-athlete has not always been easy, but having a positive academic mindset and transferring discipline, commitment, focus, and work ethic to the academic playing field, has enabled me to be successful in the classroom as well. One of my long-term goals is to have a career in business, and fortunately I have had access to challenging business-related electives in high school. From this opportunity I learned a great deal about the business world, and took part in many projects and tasks where I was able to practice what I had been taught. I look forward to finding the right match at the college level where I can continue to accomplish both my academic and baseball goals.
I consider myself to be extremely personable, driven, outgoing, and coachable. I am looked at as a role model and mentor to other players, and I have always had an excellent rapport with my coaches. I look forward to playing baseball at the collegiate level, and I thank you for taking the time to learn more about me.
