I am not just any right-handed pitcher, I am a submarine pitcher. This unique skill earned me a spot on my high school varsity team as a freshman. The season was inundated with obstacles for me and my team. We were playing for a brand new school with new coaches, and most players had never played together. We started off losing a lot of games in the pre-season tournaments and were told by many to take this year as a learning experience. With determination and hard work we began to mesh. We ended the season in the third round of playoffs, losing to the team which went on to win the State Championship. I am thankful my coach had enough faith in me to start me in our first district game, pitching 5.1 innings. I was continually faced with challenging situations throughout the season. Keeping my composure is a skill I am very good at and it was demonstrated perfectly when I was put in to pitch during the second inning of a bi-district playoff game with bases loaded, no outs and down 4-6. I finished the game and we ended up winning 9-6. Through my experiences during my freshman year, I learned what it truly means to never give up.
As a dual sport athlete who also plays football, I know that it takes dedication and hard work to win. One of my football coaches even wrote a letter to my parents expressing his appreciation for my “great attitude” and work ethic. He stated “if we had 100 Bryce Fullers, this program would be unstoppable”. I give my best on and off the field and plan to continue giving my best. I would love the opportunity to continue playing the sport I love throughout my college journey, wherever that leads me. So if you are looking for a pitcher who can give your team an edge, let me prove you made the right decision with me.
