My name is Matthew Adin Ruiz. Most people call me Adin. I am a sophomore at Santa Gertrudis Academy High School (Class of 2024). I have a 3.74 GPA and am currently ranked 27th in my class. I have been a starting Varsity OF/P since my freshman year. I received 2nd Team AllDistrict-Outfielder, 1st Team AllDistrict Pitcher, Academic AllDistrict (Freshman and Sophomore seasons), was my school’s Newcomer of the Year my freshman year, and was named TEAM MVP my sophomore year. I made the Top 200 lists in 3A for my batting average and as a pitcher I made the ERA, strikeouts, and wins list. I was also named a Top 2024 Outfielder by LoneStarPreps.
I have been playing baseball since I was 4 years old. During the summer/fall, I play for Texas Twelve baseball out of Katy, TX (Zach Dillon). I am a right handed pitcher that commands 4 pitches well; fastball, curveball, change-up, and a slider. During games, I currently sit around 80-83mph with my fastball, my curveball is 65mph, my change-up stays around 73-75mph, and slider is consistently 68mph. From the outfield, my hardest run-and-gun was 91mph. Every week in the off-season I go to a pitching coach (Mike McClendon) two times a week and during the season I go once a week. There I threw a max of 86mph off the mound.
Although baseball is very important to me, my academics have always come before baseball because I know playing baseball at the next level wouldn’t be possible without my grades. I am an honor roll student, a member of the National Honor Society, and I was nominated as a Sophomore of the Year.
