My name is Jackson Wininger. I am who I am today because of baseball. This game has a very special place in my heart and has significantly influenced how I approach my life every day. I love baseball and what it has taught me on and off the field. Baseball gives me the opportunity to build my character and develop me as a person. One thing that baseball has helped me understand is failure. This game is all about how players react to their failures and positively move on from them. I don’t let my failures bring me down on the field or in life, but instead I want to learn how to excel from setbacks. Baseball has also taught me to be a team player. Not only do you have to be a team player in the game of baseball, but also off the field in jobs, every day circumstances, and in relationships. I take pride in helping my team unselfishly so that as a group we can be successful. While I am not the tallest or fastest player, I guarantee that I am a player who will lead others, be about the team and not the individual, and out work everyone on and off the field. I want to play baseball in college because I have the desire and passion for this sport. I love this game so much. It has done a lot for me and I want to continue to play for this reason. Without baseball in my life, I would not be the person I am today.
