My name is Logan Firgens. I am an honors student at Plano Senior High School (Plano, TX) and class of 2024. I have a 3.68 GPA as of February 2023, and my academic transcript includes honors and dual credit classes.
I am an outfielder and have always been one as long as I can remember dating back to my early days of playing ball. I love playing the outfield – centerfield is my preferred position, followed by left field, then right field. I can read the ball well off the bat in the outfield, and position myself quickly to make the defensive catch and to keep that baserunner from advancing.
I have a strong baseball IQ, including a strong defensive mindset. I am very knowledgeable about the game of baseball, having strong situational awareness whether I am at bat, running the bases, or playing defense.
When it comes to playing baseball, I am very motivated and determined, always striving to get better and to help out my teammates. I put the team first as I am a team player. I am willing to sacrifice myself if it means advancing runners to get them into better scoring position. Practicing and getting better is very enjoyable for me and is evident in my baseball work ethic. If given the choice, I would rather be in the batting cages and/or on the field all day long as baseball motivates me. Additionally, my competitive drive is attributable to having a twin brother, playing the same sports as me.
I am coachable, which I believe is an important attribute as an athlete. My high school and summer ball team coaches reaffirm that also.
I am also a right-handed pitcher. I can throw strikes, pitch to contact, and can throw fastball, change-up, curveball and slider. Although I can pitch, I’d rather be in the outfield as I am a much stronger outfielder than pitcher. I have no desire to be a pitcher only as that is not my strongest natural position or ability.
In my spare time when I am not playing baseball, you will find me either playing video games or in the gym working out to get stronger.
