Hello, my name is Grant Jackson. I am a 5"11 185 pound baseball fanatic. It has always been my goal and dream to play collegiate baseball and do whatever it takes to achieve that. I come from a great faith driven family who have taught me to put others before my self. My father has impressed upon me to always give back to the community who supports and encourages me. Although I played on numerous traveling teams, I always played Little League to support my community. I look forward to furthering my education and have hope that the game I love will allow me that opportunity. As far as my baseball credentials, from age five to my Freshman year, 99% of the time I played shortstop and pitcher. My freshmen year, my High school team was in need of a a third baseman. The head coach liked my glove and asked me if I was willing to learn the position. I anxiously accepted the challenge and was fortunate to be named second team all-district third baseman my freshmen year and first team all district my Sophomore year. That summer my traveling team ,the San Antonio Longhorns, needed a catcher with a stronger arm to stop base runners from stealing. Due to my arm strength I was asked to learn the catcher position . Again,I anxiously accepted the challenge. According to my coach, who was a college catcher himself, felt I was a natural. I am a team player who places team above self. My greatest strengths include my arm strength, speed and knowledge of the game of baseball. Spring season, my junior year I was faced with a major set back. I had to have tommy john surgery. I was out of baseball my Junior year. After an intense recovery period, I was released before this spring 2015 baseball season fully recovered. I look forward to the challenges that collegiate baseball will bring my way and am very eager to further my education. I plan to spend the rest of my life learning and teaching others the great game of baseball.
