I think my greatest strengths are….
My discipline and versatility.
Body strength and endurance is a important part of my job as a baseball player. Endurance plays a HUGE role in catching….especially when I’m playing multiple innings/games.
Also in my versatility as a player. I feel like being versatile in life, gives you an advantage, whether it’s work or sports or whatever you do. Having choices gives you options and options are always good.
Catcher has been my main position for about 10 years – since little league and through my select years. I have excelled at this position over the years – in games and tournaments –
Being a catcher, I have seen A LOT of pitches….just being behind the plate so much. So when my coaches approached me about relief pitching, I thought it was a great opportunity
It wasn’t until after my ACL injury last year that my coaches and I realized that I was pretty valuable as a pitcher. During my recovery/transition back to full game play, I began to master
Many of which shows in my stats
My “bat” isn’t too bad either……
I think where I have improved most is….
In my mental strength as a player. It really tests you being injured, when your mind feels strong, but your body can’t perform. This was a real test for me this past year. But I think it has really given me a better appreciation for the game and the role I play for my team.
What are you most proud of?
I’m proud of myself for staying focused and positive through my 10-month recovery. Well, I was worried I was missing out on reps and game time and tournament play…. but it DID allow me to focus more time on my schoolwork and improve my GPA and class rank, which I am very proud of and will give me more academic opportunities also.
My advice for young players is …
COMMIT
Commit to yourself.
Commit to your team.
Commit to positivity and good sportsmanship.
Come early. Leave late. And success will follow
