My goal is to play baseball in college and also obtain a degree in Criminal Justice and Homeland Security. My ultimate dream is to play professional baseball, but I realize that may never happen. Once my baseball career is over I want to become a Special Agent for Homeland Security or the FBI. I know that to work as a Special Agent I have to keep my grades up, get a college degree and stay away from bad influences, especially other kids who might be drinking alcohol or using drugs. Kids like that only hurt themselves, their families, their school and their teammates. I believe that when you are part of a team the team comes first and the most important thing you can do is to treat everyone with respect and be a good teammate.
I know there will always be guys who are bigger, faster, and stronger than I am and I have been working very hard in the gym over the past year. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard, so I always work hard in practice and train hard on my own. I catch extra bull pens and put in extra work in the batting cage before games or after practices so I can continue to improve on offense and defense. I also work hard to keep my grades up because I know that if I am able to get a baseball scholarship it won't pay for all of the college expenses so I want to earn an academic scholarship as well. In order to become more versatile I have been playing innings at first base and third base on my travel team, when I am not catching. I feel that if I can become proficient at both infield and outfield corners I will be a lot more valuable to my team.
I can promise that if I am a member of your team, there will not be anyone else on the team who works harder or is a better teammate than I am. All I need is the opportunity to show you what I can do. I also do not have a problem with red shirting as a freshman if you need me to. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile, David Spindel
