I’m Wyatt Alridge and I am a senior at The New Community School. I am a left-handed hitter and a right-throwing shortstop looking for a school that will help me be the best student and baseball player I can be.
I was adopted from Russia in 2004 and brought to America. The opportunities that I have been given are amazing. I have a wonderful family and they have supported me when I tried different sports. I started playing baseball when I was eight. I was small, but fast and I had a good glove and I could throw. I made my first travel team when I was 10 and started in the outfield. As I learned how to play, I moved to third, and then to shortstop where I play now.
Baseball is my favorite sport and I love everything about it. It has given me so many great things in life. Baseball is my heart and I hope to be able to extend my career through college. I have a lot to offer colleges. I am 6’1” and I have good range and I’m still fast. My best time in the 60 is 6.9. I love to play shortstop, but I am open to playing anywhere, as long as I get to play! I am very coachable and a great teammate and I love to have fun with my team. I am the Captain of my high school team and I help my coach run the drills in practice.
I am looking for a smaller college that has good academic support for students like me. My high school is a small private school in Richmond Virginia. It is a school for kids and young adults with learning disabilities. It is a great school and it has helped me out so much with academics. I have dyslexia, which makes writing essays like this hard, but I don’t let it stop me. I have a 3.0 GPA and I have worked hard to get this. I know that college will be hard, but if I have the right help, I can do it. Playing baseball in college would be a dream come true.
