My name is Jaelin Stanley and I am Amarican Indian, Navajo, in the Towering House Clan (one of the 4 original Navajo tribes). I am an Second Baseman /Shortstop, from Battle Ground, Washington. I am primarily a middle infielder, but am able and willing, and have played anywhere on the field. As a Freshman, on my 2018 season, I started on the Freshman team, and moved up to Junior Varsity within 2 games, was a starter at Shortstop, batted lead-off, and switch hit.
"I grew up on the diamond." I started playing ball at the age of 5. My dad has been a great part of my baseball development. As an Marine Corps veterans, my parents taught me to persevere through adversity. My fathers knowledge of the game as a baseball player has helped me to develop great bat speed, hand speed and baseball IQ. Travel ball with NWFutures has also played a major role in my baseball career, by providing me with various opportunities to showcase my skill, (Perfect Game Tournament in Fort Meyers, FL and with Mound Time in Las Vegas, NV), past the local level. Trying out for different teams, and working with area MLB scouts has helped me adjust to high pressure situations. Adapting to the weather elements of Washington, ("Embracing the Suck" as Manager Chad Kreuter and Player #15, Tim Tebow) has taught me, it doesn't matter! which has also pushed me to train on my own when games are cancelled or delayed.
I pride myself in taking initiative on the field and leading by example. Nothing excites me more than being able to execute in clutch situations for the better of the team. Overall, I am a determined, coachable, selfless player, and that has helped me succeed both on the field an in the classroom. At the plate, I approach with a lead off mentality, making the pitcher work and able to hit the ball to all fields.
Some of my goals for baseball are to "Respect the Game", both on and off the field. I strive to maintain a good attitude and show passion for the game by always hustling. Academically, my goals are similar to those on the ball field. I want to gain a college education by staying respectful, hard working and challenged in the class room. My aspirations are to play baseball at the highest level, obtain a college degree, and continue to learn important life lessons that I believe the game of baseball teaches you.
When it comes to specific schools, I am interested in schools that have plenty to offer academically and athletically. I want to find a school that I can fit into and call home, where I can take my education as a student athlete into the future.
