Hi, I'm Kellan Johns, a class of 2023 RHP that attends Jackson High School. I am a stellar student, and work hard in school. My abilities on the field though come second to my character as a teammate, I am a guy who can bring a dugout to life, or pick up a teammate who is having a tough time. As for my abilities on the mound, I am not a guy who relies solely on velocity to get outs, and it has helped me learn better how to pitch rather than just throw. I use well placed pitches, and deceptive breaking balls to induce weak contact and get strikeouts when I need them. I pride myself in having a complex understanding of both my mechanics and pitch design and the ability to use that knowledge to my advantage, like making fixes and changes in-game to get back on track if needed. I am also an excceptionally hard worker, through all of my little league early playing career I had always been the kid with a fiery passion for the game, but none of the god given abilities that my peers had. I’ve only gotten to where I am through years of hard work in the wieghtroom and on the field, and I am committed to continuing this work in order to continue to further my playing ability. In college I know that I would like to pursue a degree that will allow me to teach PE at the high school level and to coach there aswell. Baseball is my life, I live eat and breath it, I play with an intense, fiery passion and drive to compete and know that I will be able to continue to play with this competitive fire at the college level. I am also committed to giving back to my community, as I have volunteered regularly as a little league umpire, and to help at tryouts for the last 4 years. In addition, I work at a baseball training facility where I am a counselor at their camps for young children (ages 4-14), where I hope to insitll my love for the game into all the kids that I meet.
