Personal Statement

My name is Noah Kiakona and I am currently a Senior attending Eastlake High School in Sammamish, Washington. I moved here in June, 2013 from Germany as my father was a Civilian worker for the U.S. Army. Baseball is my favorite sport because I grew up with it and the lessons that I learned from it is valuable to me because it will get me through life (Team work, dedication, and hard work). I still use these lessons in every day life, both on and off the diamond. I am a good team mate, a hard worker, and dedicated. I would show up early for every home game to get a good 30 minutes of extra BP.

I've been playing Baseball for the past 12 years, from Little League to High School. I was elected onto the all star team 3 out of the 12 years. I was on the Heidelberg High School Varsity baseball team (Germany) during my Freshmen year, during which I was the second string third Basemen and a relief pitcher. During my Sophomore year, also on the Varsity team, I started either third base, first base, or was the starting pitcher each game. During my Junior team, I played on the JV team at Eastlake HS because of the amount of senior depth at my position. In the summer of 2014, I played in my first summer league, as it was the first time that it was available to me because of my geographical location. I played first, and finished with a .340 batting average with only 2 errors over 100+ games.

I want to attend a school that would help me get a degree in Marine Biology. School is important to me because it not only teaches me skills necessary to get through life (such as reading, writing, and math), but also lessons that cant come from a book, such as perseverance, being self directed, and critical thinking. I am currently enrolled in my schools Running Start Program, in which I attend the local community college for all of my classes to receive both college and High School credit.

I have also attained the rank of Eagle in 2013. I am a part of my schools TSA (Technology Student Association).
