Personal Statement

I an striving to be the best baseball player I can be, I do this by staying after practice and going in on weekends to get some extra practice, I’ve also gotten a gym membership this past year and have been using it quite a bit. I played part time variety my senior year and played full time and started varsity my sophomore year.

  • Hitting Notes: Ryker has a smooth lefty swing. Ryker does a great job of staying anchored in his back leg and not shifting his weight until his swing. A few swings Ryker was a little rotational which will hurt him against better lefty pitchers. Hitting into the front side rather than swinging the front side is the fix to this. Lots of one-armed drills and facing higher velos off of the machine will help elevate Ryker's game. Pitcher Notes: Ryker has some tools to be successful at the next level, but will need to get the velocity up. Ryker should use more of his back leg. When using your back leg, try having your knee/shin pointing towards the back of the room into external rotation. Right now, you are breaking early with your back leg and are in internal rotation. You lose velocity when you break your back leg too early. Top Velocity on social media will show you more on this. Ryker's spin rate on his fastball is okay for his age, but make sure you are living down in the zone. As your spin rate goes up, you should live up in the zone. Nice movement on your fastball. The slider could be better, but it works and will get guys out. It's a nice pitch to pair with your fastball that is moving the other way.
