To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Alec Danen. I am from Howards Grove, Wisconsin, and I am writing to you because of my interest in playing collegiate baseball. I currently play on my high school team, the Howards Grove Tigers and Impact Sports Academy. I consider myself a “we player;” not a “me player.” Regardless of my individual role, I am always committed to helping the team win and understand the importance and willingness to make sacrifices for same.
Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I just finished my junior year of high school baseball. I am a three year varsity starter and captain for my high school team. As a sophomore I made 2nd team all-conference with a .414 batting Ave. This year as my roll has been changed to a pitcher as our program is in a rebuilding year with WIAA switching our conference to spring baseball. I was honored this year with 2nd team again with a .313 batting Ave, and zero errors for the season. As a new pitcher I was able to win two games out three starts. I only pitched a total of 22 innings but had 39 strikeouts. This summer I played with the 17u Stars Royal travel team with Impact Sports Academy. ISA was a team of college commits and players that are striving for the next level. I played first base, third base, and pitched a little bit. I batted a .371 and had a OBP of a .474 and led the team in both those categories.I understand the dynamics and importance of teamwork. I am concerned with all aspects of the game and not just how I am doing in the game. I am 100% committed to the team. That commitment includes encouraging and motivating my teammates. I have demonstrated team cohesion by arranging and spending time with my teammates off the field, and encouraged and invited teammates during the off season in further skill development.
As a student at Howards Grove High School, I currently have a 3.6 GPA. I took the ACT early in my sophomore year and scored 23. I feel I am a respectful and a good student. I have got into the habit of self-discipline; which includes prioritizing and managing my time with the expectation that not only am I going to seek out my weaknesses and attack them, but that I will be successful in my classes and do well. I am respectful to my teachers, instructors and coaches, understanding my role as “student,” and his or hers as “teacher.” I have never received any disciplinary actions or caused any disciplinary issues in the classroom, school or public venue. I demonstrate citizenship by volunteering my time to back to the community via assisting other youth baseball coaches with our recreational youth baseball program, festival and fund raising events for our athletic programs and community outreach events that benefit local non-profits. I also an involved in Student Council. Some of the most recent events are 2018 Food Drive, Pause for a Cause, Silver Dollar Days, and Howards Grove Recreational Baseball.
I hope that you are able to see me play. I have included my athletic and academic information.
I would love to meet with you and talk about the possibility of being a part of your team in 2020. If there is anything I can do to help you decide whether I might be a good fit for your program, please don’t hesitate to ask. I sincerely thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to future contact with you.
Respectfully,
Alec Michael Danen
