Ever since I can remember, I have always had a strong love for baseball. I started playing organized baseball before kindergarten and I have never thought about stopping since. Along with playing baseball from a young age, I had always been a fat kid from a young age. I finished my 2021 freshman football season at 232 pounds which is the largest I have ever been. I did not realize what I had become until the start of the wrestling season when I first weighed myself. I let myself slip away during that football season while gaining 22 pounds of mostly fat. I hated the way I felt and looked. The wrestling season was sequential to the football season, which is where I would find my biggest strength and learn the most about myself and my body. During the wrestling season I excluded all soda and candy from my diet and along with wrestling practice every day, I lost roughly 15 pounds before the competitive season started and wrestled in the ≤220 weight class. The wrestling season ended and I was hovering around 210 pounds and in very good shape. I maintained that weight throughout the 2022 high school spring baseball season. Keep in mind I was 6 feet, 3 inches through most of this time. Summer was coming up, and I wanted to look and feel as fit as I possibly could. I dropped from 210 pounds to 192 pounds through consistent, healthy eating habits, cardio, along with a whole lot of determination. I currently feel the best I have ever felt and move so much better than I used to. While losing 40 pounds, I learned so much about my body and how to treat it right. I also learned my best skill: Determination and Drive. Once I set my mind to doing something, I will try my absolute hardest to finish it. I also noticed this with school projects and assignments. Once I start an activity, I will do whatever I can to make it as perfect as possible. My parents say I am 100% self-driven and I 100% agree with that. They never have to tell me or remind me that I need to do any schoolwork. I pride myself in showing up to school every day and doing the classwork, as exhibited in my nearly perfect attendance for all 8 classes and 3.78 accumulative GPA. I hope to finish high school with a 3.8 accumulative GPA and score well on my ACT/SAT scores. I hope to do well enough, in terms of grades, in high school to get into an academically good college.
I plan to get as strong as I can during the remainder of high school in order to boost my performance on the diamond and ultimately play college baseball.
Through baseball, I have learned how to be a good person and teammate. As a fairly shy person, I tend to lead with my actions rather than words. I know the importance of having a strong bond and trust with teammates and how that transfers to game play.
I love the game of baseball. I love watching college, major league, youth, and my age of baseball. I always keep up with Major League Baseball and look up to players such as Carlos Gomez, Daniel Vogelbach, and Juan Soto.
Lastly, I know the importance of surrounding yourself with good people. I always stay away from getting involved with troublesome people and situations. I also am smart on social media and know how one slip-up can ruin your chances at anything.
