My name is Abigail Grill, and I am a senior at Willows High School. My collegiate goals, as they stand, are that I want to go to a four year college and graduate with a bachelor's degree in education. I have consistently maintained at least a 3.0 grade point average and above all four years of my high school academic career, which I believe demonstrates that I am a hard working student athlete. I have been a cheerleader for thirteen years, and while cheering, I have found myself gaining more confidence, experience, and overall love for the sport. Additionally, I have also coached our local youth team for the last four years. Throughout my thirteen years of being a cheerleader I have had many different experiences. One of my favorite experiences, from my earliest memories, is when I started learning how to be a base, and learned all of our cheers. Learning our cheers helped empower me to feel more spirited and confident in myself. This is when my love for cheer was truly sparked. In sixth grade, me and my team went to Las Vegas for the Jamz National competition. When I was there, I had the stomach flu during the performance, but still went out there and performed my heart out. In the end, me and my team were able to come home with the first place trophy. This experience taught me to persevere through obstacles and adversity to achieve my ultimate goals. It was because of this I was able to become a stronger, better athlete. One of my most recent accomplishments was during a football game against our rival team from Orland High School. This event is called the Battle of The Axe, and is a competition between our schools and respective football programs. In my junior year, we went to Orland and performed a full routine with stunts, jumps, tumbling, pyramid, and dance. For the opposing team, they only had elite and dance. This competition between the cheer teams is known as the Battle of The Bows, and it was because we had more to offer in our routine that our team won The Bow. This experience was a moment that I am very proud of. I've had many other experiences as a cheerleader throughout these thirteen years, too many to list here, but they have all meant so much to me. My academics have proven that I can be both a student that always puts school first, and being an athlete second. When I need to be an athlete, I put my all into being a cheerleader. Thank you for your time and consideration
