Personal Statement

Hello coaches and staff,

My name is Mailey Rash, I am 17 years old, and I have been cheering since I was five years old. To me, cheer is a sport like no other. It takes dedication, strength, flexibility/mobility, teamwork, and most importantly, it takes confidence!

My collegiate goals are to study Political Science, to graduate top of my class, and of course to cheer compete and to cheer sidelines at an amazing school. What makes me a good candidate for your team is that I have both deep rooted experiences as an all star competitive cheerleader and Varsity sideline cheering experience for my High School, cheering and competing amongst some of the most talented athletes and coaches at nationally recognized cheer gyms including Maryland Twisters. On that note, I have learned through hard work and dedication what it takes to be a well-rounded cheerleader. I continue to push beyond limitations, and break through typical stereo types has had a tremendously positive effect my own personal growth in this sport to represent my High School and my Community in our Nation’s Capital.

And, what sets me apart from other recruits is my discipline and passion to develop myself further. Cheer has provided me with a determination skill set like no other. I take constructive feedback to further my ability to adapt in any stunt, tumble pass or dance step and apply them to build upon my development.  This drive to excel and perform at a high achievement sets me apart athletically and academically. My education is received not only from the school itself but also on the cheer mat! They both challenge and push me towards my goals of becoming Mailey.  I will always focus on my school work and maintained straight A's since middle school. I will still be on time for every practice and give cheer my all!
