Lindsay Portmess '23 Recruiting Profile

I have been cheerleading since I was 4 years old. The second I stepped onto the mat, I realized that this sport was for me.  Growing up in the allstar cheer world taught me how to be a committed team player. I learned to put my ego aside, because cheerleading is all about the best two minutes and thirty seconds the TEAM can put out on the mat. I learned how  to overcome challenges without giving up,  how to handle disappointment with grace and dignity, and how to always focus on ways to achieve my goals. In high school, I made our school’s varsity team and love the spirit and comraderie that come with it. I make sure I am the best possible me whether on the mat or the sideline. I can’t imagine a world without cheerleading and look forward to the wonderful opportunities ahead of me in college. I aspire to be on the field in front of  thousands of people… something I have dreamed of  since I was a little girl. No  matter what I have endured in this sport,  it is in my blood and part of my being.
