As a student athlete who has cheered for 13 years, I have had the amazing opportunity to experience various venues for cheerleading, from sideline cheer for all four years of high school, to competitive high school cheer, and club cheer. I have traveled to compete in National, Regional, and District cheerleading competitions. This year, my senior year 2023-24, I am the captain for the varsity cheer squad at Sunlake High School in Land O’Lakes, Fl. I have also been chosen to cheer at The 9th Annual All-Star Game, which consists of many different teams, and will be my last game of my High School career as a senior.
Cheerleading has been an essential part of my life since I was young. I started cheerleading at the age of six with Pop Warner cheer. It was such a great way to stay active and have fun and make a lot of new friends. I began Pop Warner on the “Tiny Mite” team in 2011 and ended Pop Warner on the Varsity team in 2018. During my career as a Pop Warner cheerleader, I have competed at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports every year from Regionals to Nationals with multiple Top 10 finishes, and a second place finish at Nationals in 2017.
I love competing on larger stages with big crowds, and it brings me lots of joy to ignite the crowd and see fans have a great time with our squad cheer leading the way. I took private tumbling lessons for a while, but felt like I needed something a little more intense, so I joined club cheer with the Tampa Bulls at Stunt and Tumble Gym. I cheered there for a season where we competed at UCA and the ESPN Wide World of Sports for NHSCC.
With a growing love for the sport, I knew I wanted to cheer in high school, so I tried out and made Varsity my freshmen year and have been on Varsity all throughout high school, including my senior season. During my freshmen year of competitive cheer for high school, we went to State and placed third. In my junior year, I attended UCA camp at University of South Florida and had such a fun time learning new skills and techniques.
Cheer has always been such an important part of my life, and has made such an impact on me and has helped me become the person I am today. It has taught me teamwork, dedication, discipline, sportsmanship, and leadership. I have dedicated countless hours of hard work towards cheerleading and perfecting my skills through the years. I would love to further my cheerleading skills on a collegiate level and showcase my talents and continue to be part of a community of cheerleaders.
