Madison DeLong '23 Recruiting Profile

Hey, my name is Madison DeLong. I am a Junior at East Coweta High School (7A) in Sharpsburg, Georgia. I am a flyer on the Varsity Cheer team and the captain of the gymnastics team. I also cheer at Stingray Allstars in Marietta on their senior five coed team where I side base. I have really enjoyed getting to learn about basing this year but my love is in the air flying. I got into cheerleading through gymnastics. I was a competitive gymnast my whole life until this year when I really started focusing on cheer. Gymnastics has helped with my tumbling in cheerleading and confidence in the air. My freshman year I wanted to be in a sport at my school, but they did not offer gymnastics at the time. That is when I decided to try out for the cheer team. Ever since I have loved the team atmosphere of the sport and the tradition that comes along with it. Although competing in two sports can be stressful and time consuming, I would like to say I handle it well while achieving my academic goals and maintaining my social life. This year I am still involved with gymnastics but focusing on my cheer teams; with the hope of winning titles along the way.  I plan to pursue a college degree that keeps me involved in sports like the following: Sports Medicine / Athletic Training / Exercise Science. As much as I love High School and the sports, I can not wait to get into college and become my school’s biggest cheerleader.
