Harper Elliott '22 Recruiting Profile

My time as a cheerleader may not be as long as some, but I can share that the past four years as a varsity level cheerleader have been the absolute best. I began gymnastics when I was three years old and competed at a high level until high school. My high school doesn’t have a gymnastics program, and after getting over my initial disappointment about that, I was encouraged to try out for cheer. I am so grateful that I did. I am honored to be the captain of our varsity squad. Cheer has allowed me to integrate my tumbling and dance skills from gymnastics. Being a flyer is very similar to the uneven  bars and vaulting. We are not a coed team, so I have spent time participating in coed clinics and having one to one training to learn new skills and improve on ones I already have. Being new to the sport four years ago has taught me that I can do anything that I put my mind to, that taking risks is an important component of life, and that being part of a team that works hard together for a common goal brings me joy. I consider myself a scholar athlete and believe that I would be a positive addition to any team.
