Personal Statement

I am a natural athlete with the majority of my childhood having revolved around competitive cheerleading, gymnastics, and dance.  I began cheerleading at an early age and quickly learned that it encompassed all my strongest athletic and personal traits.

Cheerleading has become an indispensable component of my life. I have established many outstanding friendships, learned to work well with others, overcome many obstacles, and blossomed as an athlete, as a student and in servicing my community.  Through my rigorous training and commitment to this sport I have not only become a strong competitor, but it has also instilled leadership, team, and life management characteristics that I would not have learned elsewhere.

I continue to learn important life values and morals and devote as much time as I can to my community as a student mentor, “buddy” to special needs peers and a member of the student organization.

In addition to my desire to join an academically challenging institution to achieve my life goals, I and am excited to continue my path as a cheerleader in college.   Like most competitive sports, winning is the main goal; however, cheering at the collegiate level will support the overarching goal of the consummate cheerleader; that the win or loss  should never affect our ability to be great athletes, individuals and the support of the team and fans we cheer for.

As I navigate my senior year of high school, I can’t help but reflect on my years as a student-athlete. One of my greatest moments of growth manifested from joining the cheerleading team at my school, even though being on it faced its unique set of challenges. The paramount obstacle I faced was the incredible time commitment and time management required to maintain my position on a high school team, a competitive team and as an honor student.

I am extremely grateful to know that as a cheerleader, I am representing my school,  an icon of school spirit and delight crowds at our school events.  I am a firm believer that how a child is raised is indicative of how they will flourish when they go out into the real world. I was raised in a home and cheer family that displays a lot of love, care, and quality family time.  I have learned that to reach your goals  hard work and commitment are paramount.  This extends not only to my cheer life but ultimately my academic and career path in Health Sciences.

Knowing that I am frequently looked up to by my peers as a symbol of school spirit gives me immense confidence and pride. I know that I will deliver much added value to any college. I demonstrate the right commitment, dedication, and attitude required to succeed in an undergraduate institution. I am ready now, more than ever, to become the ideal college student and athlete.  I am confident that I possess the prerequisite skills I need to make an excellent addition to your university.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
