As a cheerleader we always get told “cheer isn’t even a sport” or “all you do is shake your poms” but in reality we work insanely hard at our job. I want to show people that cheer is most definitely a sport and isn’t easy. Learning what we do on a daily basis isn’t something you can just catch on or learn on the spot. It takes hours of dedication and you must be hard working to achieve it. I want to go to the next level of cheerleading and do it in college. It’s always been my dream to do what I love after high school and also get the education for my future career. I’ve always been a very good athlete and have been self taught my entire life but I want to be coached and shaped to see how far I could actually go. I’m well known as the tumbler of our school but more well known as the guy who makes everyone laugh. I love being known as the tumbler but more importantly known as a good person who has passion for his sport. I don’t want to be picked by a school for my athleticism but for my love for the sport and my devotion to become something great. I spent years of my life gaining the courage to be comfortable cheering in school and it wasn’t easy. Having to deal with all the jokes of my peers and not knowing what to do. This didn’t affect me as a cheerleader but put a fire under my feet to achieve things they never could. I want to show people that others opinions don’t matter and that your happiness comes first and to never forget that.
