I have played a variety of different sports since the age of five, including field hockey and loved them all. It wasn't until I was the only Grade 9 field player who made my high school's senior field hockey team that I chose field hockey as the sport to devote myself to. I am on five different field hockey teams this year and even with the commitment, I am still able to focus on my academics and keep my grades up. I have been the head coach of a U11 team for my local club which has allowed me the opportunity to pass along my knowledge and passion for the game. I also started umpiring this past junior season which has allowed me to have a better understanding of the game as well. I have received numerous awards and medals but two personally stand out for me. In grade 10 at my school’s annual sports banquet, I received an award for my dedication and play called the Senior Girls Field Hockey Award. At the end of our school’s field hockey season in grade 11 I received the Commitment and Leadership Award and I am currently the captain of my school team.
Ever since I made my high school senior team I have dreamed of going to the U.S. to play at the collegiate level as well as achieve a great education. I am from Canada but I have duel citizenship so I would love to take advantage of this as the U.S. has many more field hockey opportunities than Canada. Being a part of the various teams in all the sports I have played has taught me a lot about who I am as a person. I am a good leader and when I have the passion and the drive I can achieve anything. I think I am a tenacious, reliable, positive person both on and off the field. I enjoy constructive criticism and I always strive to do my personal best.
I want to play competitive field hockey but it is also very important to me that I get a good education. At the moment I am interested in Criminology, Forensic Sciences, Criminal Justice, and Psychology.
