Isabelle Delaney '20 Recruiting Profile

In California, or really anywhere on the west coast, it is nearly impossible to find a middle school program for field hockey.  I was fortunate enough to be introduced to field hockey in 6th grade and lucky enough to be coached by nationally ranked high school players and coaches. Once I discovered it,  and began playing it, I was hooked. Having the opportunity to play field hockey in middle school and high school with nationally ranked players,  both at Futures and in my high school have given me lots of experiences   and  opportunities, from local tournaments to west coast tournaments to national tournaments. 

Being the captain of the JV team my sophomore year helped me grow both as a player and person in many ways.  As a captain I learned how to communicate better and  how to lead others.  As a person I learned the importance of team work, responsibility, and respect.  We finished the season with 22 wins and zero loses, and I came out as one of the top scorers for my team. 

Playing and competing  at Serra High School with such gifted athletes in a program that has a long history of banners and accomplishments has been inspiring and sometime scary.   I am inspired by always playing with and learning from such incredible players.  I am scared at how much they push me and how much I have more to learn in field hockey.  As part of the team, our coach and team mates hold us all  to very high expectations, both academically and physically.  Our team has the highest GPA of all the teams in our division.  With this being instilled upon us, I've learned to building my work-ethic , how to share my ideas to help enhance the team, and to learn from others. I'm interested in a school that challenges me athletically and academically.  I believe that with my work-ethic, leadership and drive I will continue to grow as a player and benefit a collegiate program.
