Personal Statement

Hello,

My name is Madison Tovar and I am part of the class of 2022 at Leland High School in San Jose, CA. I have the desire and determination on playing field hockey at next level.

I’m currently a Junior at Leland High school, where I am the starting center forward for the Varsity team. During the 2019 High School Season, I was the top scorer and had the most assists on my team. To add on, I was voted 1st Team "All League." The past two years I’ve attended Futures, I got to experience new coaches and new players techniques and skills. Besides playing on the field, I was on the board for my field hockey team to help raise money for new equipment, I am very proud to say that we exceeded our goal and raised $8,613. During this time, I have been training and working hard to improve myself as a player. I’ve been attending Field hockey seminars, learning new skills, organizing private training sessions with different coaches, and volunteering to try to help anyone I can during this time. In conclusion, I have really devoted my time to my studies. During summer 2022, I've completed a College level  health class and finished an Interdisciplinary G College- Preparatory Elective Course Money Math. In 2020, I attended super sixties where I grew as an athlete and had the opportunity to play with many new athletes! This past year I attended Winter Escape which was an amazing experience, my high school season is finally starting up. Stay tuned for more film!

Thanks for reading!

  • We have reserved practice time at Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center. We have the fields from 2-4 on Mondays and Wednesdays starting Sept 9th thru Sept 30th and Saturdays from 9-11 Sept 12th thru Oct 3rd. We will be opening up the practices to non-Festival players also. Saturdays 9-11 practice is reserved for Festival players. We know that some players will be unable to make the weekday practices because they don't live in the South Bay and would have a hard time making those practices. As mentioned, Saturdays practices are reserved for Festival players so they can practice together. We have a Head Coach to supervise the practices. Most players might know her from Futures. She is Katrina Carter (KC). From KC: Player Career: I have been playing field hockey for the past 14 years. I recently finished up my degree at UC Berkeley and have played for their Division I field hockey program for the last four years. I have represented the states on the USA Women’s Development team for the past two years and have also previously been on the U21 National Team as well. Coaching Career: I have been coaching Futures for the past 7 years and I am currently a level II head coach of multiple sites for regional 11. Previously, I have coached for Impact, Infinity, and San Jose Fly field hockey clubs. In my spare time, I contribute to various collegiate summer camps throughout the country as well as high school, and camps associated with All American Field Hockey. I want to be able to give back to my community by instilling the passion I have for the sport in my community’s youth and assisting in the development of character through athletics.
