Personal Statement

I have been playing field hockey since seventh grade and I did not think I would ever come to the point I am at now. I had originally just started out playing because a few of my friends had mentioned it before and it sounded interesting, so I thought I would give it a try. Never in a million years did I think that I was going to keep at the sport as long as I have. Field hockey has become a passion for me. It has also been a dream and goal of mine to play college field hockey ever since I started. So, being able to represent a school and play the sport I love would be an absolute dream come true.

Field hockey has become a major part of who I am today. It is my second life outside of school. It has become a huge part of my identity. When I step onto that field, everything changes, I become a different person almost. I drop everything that was going on prior to the game, whether it may have been good or bad and start with a clean slate. I just focus on what is most important in the moment...the game. I know that my teammates will have my back for everything that I do and we can make the great things happen if we put our hard work into it. Field hockey has not only become a major part of me, but it has also helped shape who I am as a person. It has helped me work better as a team, to communicate, to shake things off no matter how bad things get, and so much more. It is not only that though...I love everything about field hockey. Although winning is great and is what we all strive for, even with the losses there is so much to take from it. So much to learn. I know how to better myself by looking at all the things that I could change or do better, and improve on it. Make things happen so I will not do the same thing twice. I learn from my mistakes. It is the hard work and dedication that one puts into the sport that truly makes them great. It is pretty amazing to think how much field hockey has changed my life so far and how it can continue to do so. The sport is not only a way of life for me, but also provides me with an amazing team that I can then call my family.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
