Hello, my name is Bailey Harriott and I would like to introduce myself. I am 17 years old and going to be a senior at Ridgefield High School in Ridgefield, Ct. I am a 3 year starter on the Varsity team. Our high school is in the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference, which is the most competitive in the state. I was a three sport athlete (FH, Lax and Basketball) up until this year, when I decided that field hockey was the passion which I wanted to pursue. This year during the off season I am playing for Chelsea Piers Club Field Hockey, which is coached by Emily Townsend-Prince and Maureen “Mo” Minicus. During the winter, we qualified and attended the N.I.T. Indoor tournament in Richmond, Virginia. This was a great experience. I am now playing for the Chelsea Piers outdoor spring team and we have competed in tournaments at Colombia, Princeton and Fairfield University. Also this year, I have received some nice write ups in the paper, All County Honorable Mention and Ridgefield High School’s Most Improved Athlete Award. I always make a full commitment to whatever team that I am part of. I fully understand the responsibilities both on and off the field. Travel time, practices and conditioning have been the norm for me since 5th grade
Me as a person. I have grown up being taught to be respectful, humble and empathetic. At the same time, I have learned to stand up for myself and others. I have many friends in many circles and they are all very important to me. I am unsure at this time of what major I would declare, but I am leaning towards the areas such as Public Health or Human Resource Management.
I am the daughter of a Fire Captain (dad), and a mom that worked in a Children’s Hospital. I see their personal satisfaction in helping others and enjoy that myself. This is not to say that I have not had to overcome adversity, such as divorce and my brother who has been seriously ill.
I enjoy giving back to the community whenever I can. I have been a coach and a referee for the Ridgefield Basketball Association as well as working in youth clinics for both Field Hockey and Lacrosse. I am currently the Vice President of the Junior Board for the Molly Ann Tango Foundation. This is a charity which helps children with special needs.
I plan to consider colleges that are a good academic fit for me. I am very passionate about playing in college and could not think of a more healthy and happy experience to go along with academics. I am flexible to an institution that loves me as a player as well as a student. I am all in.
Thank you for getting to know me, Bailey
