My passion for field hockey was immediate the first game I played in middle school. I had already been playing select soccer as a goalkeeper for four years, and while I continued in that role for four more years, my middle school did not offer soccer, so I began playing field hockey too. I quickly realized my experience as a soccer goalkeeper had provided a unique experience for understanding the game from the back and grasping the big picture on the field during games. It also taught me to use my voice and communicate with my defensive team. It made me a smart player and an effective defender.
As a soccer goalkeeper, I had to be strong and aggressive, which helped my natural ability to tolerate and work through both physical and mental challenges. As a defender on my field hockey teams, I am a fierce and dependable player. My talent in combination with my strength and unique understanding of the game has made me a smart defender who can immediately begin contributing to the success of your team.
